Hi, and welcome.
I’m Cheryl, a mum of three beautiful boys and on-line business called Clanwell Wildlife Wears.
So, you might be asking yourself at this point “Clanwell’, what is all this about, what does it have to do with pyjamas?
Well it actually is shortened version of our surname Wellington coupled with the word ‘Clan’ to include the whole family..and Clanwell Wildlife Wears is very much all about being a family based business.
Each family member has a strong interest in wildlife and the environment and hope to spark this same interest in others.
I guess my children have been influenced greatly because of my background as a Zoo-Keeper, Park Ranger and Wildlife Officer. Yes, I have had an interesting background, which has helped lead me to where I am today.
“So why t.shirts and pyjamas?” I wanted to offer an alternative to the mainstream mass produced children’s wear. I wanted to provide something new, refreshing and unique, quality made but affordable with a wildlife educational theme.
“So why the current designs? ” The short answer is, they were chosen by my three children as their favourites at the time but the Panther Chameleon was my choice.
The initial aim was to have Australian Made products, but unfortunately it wasn’t financially possible and it was almost impossible to find an Australian made manufacturer. In saying this, my vision is to hopefully one day have the garments made here in Australia.
With a record of two failed attempts with other suppliers who either produced no samples at all, or samples of poor quality, that failed to meet the Australian sleepwear standards.
This is why it has taken the business so long to get to this point. Having now finally found a reliable and trustworthy supplier of quality made garments, it has given a life-line to the Clanwell Wildlife Wears business.
The aim is to develop several new designs with a focus on rare, threatened or endangered species, (so stay tuned) which leads me to an important issue.
Clanwell Wildlife Wears also proudly support Earthwatch Australia, a not-for-profit organisation committed to finding solutions for a sustainable environment.
By donating 10% of all profits from each sale we support their contribution to making the world a better place.
We encourage you to learn more about Earthwatch Australiaby visiting www.earthwatch.org.au
So here’s what Earthwatch Australia has to say about Clanwell Wildlife Wears.
“Earthwatch Australia is proud to be working with Clanwell Wildlife Wears by educating children and generating awareness of environmental research that contributes to finding sustainable solutions. Earthwatch directly supports field-based environmental research scientists globally and provides the opportunity for everyday people to join their projects to learn more about the environmental issues we face. By educating youth from an early age, we are creating our next generation of environmental leaders.
Through the kind support of Clanwell Wildlife Wears, proceeds from the sale of their environmentally focused children’s clothing will enable Earthwatch Australia to develop a fully-funded scholarship to give one lucky member of the Australian community the opportunity to take part in their choice of Earthwatch expeditions worldwide. The fund will also cover travel costs and is a once in a lifetime opportunity for those who have an interest in contributing to the betterment of the natural world we cherish and rely on.
We believe Clanwell Wildlife Wears share our vision of creating a better environment for future generations, and this can only be achieved by giving them the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in what the issues are and how we identify the possible solutions.
By supporting Clanwell Wildlife WEars, you too are contributing to the future of our natural environment.”
